Fort Smith's Airport Introduces Enhanced Parking Experience
The Fort Smith Regional Airport has taken a significant step towards enhancing passenger convenience by unveiling a new parking system, developed in collaboration with Republic Parking. This modernized system, which was put into operation in January, is designed to streamline the parking experience, ensuring that travelers can enter and exit with ease and efficiency.
Upon arrival, drivers can simply press a button at the entry machine to receive their parking ticket, which allows the gate to automatically open. For exit, passengers will find two automated lanes where they can scan their tickets to see the total fees clearly displayed. The process culminates in direct payment at the exit before the gate opens. Notably, even though there isn’t a traditional cashier booth, an attendant is present on-site to assist with any inquiries or issues, maintaining a seamless flow of operations.
Airport Director Andrew Meyer emphasized the importance of this upgrade, stating, "This new parking system is all about improving ease of use and efficiency for our passengers. By modernizing our parking operations and providing assistance, we’re creating a more streamlined and user-friendly experience from arrival to departure." A critical notice for travelers is to avoid leaving their parking tickets in the windows of their vehicles, as sun exposure can fade the barcode, complicating the exit process.

UAFS Welcomes Future Students at 'Roar and Explore'
Turning towards education, the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith (UAFS) hosted nearly 600 accepted students and their families on February 13 for the annual "Roar and Explore" event. This invitation-only affair aimed to prepare new students for their upcoming collegiate journeys. The day began with a welcoming address from UAFS Chancellor Terisa Riley, followed by essential insights from the admissions and financial aid offices.
